Details: This four-hour interactive workshop will provide bilingual professionals who whish to become solid interpreters an introduction to the field of community interpreting, as well as theoretical concepts and practical skills to excel in the language industry.  The workshop will cover:

Your Instructor

Calgary: Hellen Martínez, BA, CTr, AComI

Hellen Martínez is an ATIA-certified translator and a seasoned community, court and conference interpreter. She is Calgary’s managing partner at Words Without Borders, and has more than 25 years of experience as a language professional in Alberta and overseas.

She has a bachelor’s degree in translation and interpreting from Universidad Ricardo Palma, has translated millions of words in different fields, acted as interpreter in hundreds of encounters, and given workshops in community interpreting and translation in Alberta. She served on ATIA’s Council for eleven years, and was the president of ATIA from 2011 to 2016.

Hellen’s goal is for qualified translators and interpreters to be respected and recognized as skilled language professionals in the industry in Alberta.
