We Are Certified Translators!
Words Without Borders is the only translation and interpretation company in Alberta that is fully owned, managed and operated by ATIA-certified translators who are also members of CTTIC and have served as presidents of ATIA.
We work with a wide range of industries in more than 60 languages. As certified translators, we abide by ATIA’s Code of Ethics, which ensures compliance with provincial and federal regulations and international industry standards.
Our team is composed of talented and culturally diverse language professionals who are seasoned certified translators, interpreters, and editors, and are also knowledgeable in Canadian laws, systems, industries, businesses, communities, cultures and traditions. We strive for excellence in communication and always work toward fulfilling our vision of building great relationships through great communication.
Our Standards
We are proud to be the only language provider in Alberta to be certified under one international and two Canadian industry standards:
ISO-17100-2015, CAN/CGSB-131-10-2017 and NSGIS-2007.

Hellen Martínez, BA, CTr
Managing Partner
Hellen is a Spanish<>English ATIA-Certified Translator with almost 30 years of experience in the industry. A former president of ATIA, she brings to the table a world of experience in a wide variety of subjects, ranging from technical and legal translation to conference interpreting.

Roula Salam, PhD, CTr
Managing Partner
Roula is an Arabic>English ATIA-Certified Translator and current president of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta. With a doctoral degree from University of Queens, she brings to WWB more than 20 years of experience as an educator, translator and interpreter.

Rocío holds a bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting from Unifé, one of the most prestigious Latin American universities in the industry. With more than five years of experience in the area, Rocío is the helping hand and friendly voice behind every project entrusted to WWB … and our clients love her!
